Pathophysiology/Pharmacology
(ACE Recommended Semester Credits—3)
Emphasis is placed on the disease processes affecting the human body via an integrated approach to specific disease entities. Included will be the study of causes, diagnosis and treatment of disease as well as an understanding of the basic principles of pharmacology.

Basic ICD-9-CM Coding — Part 1
(ACE Recommended Semester Credits—4)
An introduction to basic inpatient coding concepts using ICD-9-CM, this course emphasizes practice in the assignment of valid diagnostic and procedure codes.

Healthcare Data Content and Structure
(ACE Recommended Semester Credits—3)
This course introduces students to the contents, use and structure of the health record, including data and data sets. It explains how these components relate to primary and secondary record systems and gives an overview of the legal and ethical issues applicable to health information.

Proctored Final Exams

Credits

ACE CREDIT Service has recommended that 3 to 4 credit hours be awarded for each course in the Coding Basics program. However, t is up to each transferring institution how many credit hours are accepted. For further information see our > Coding Basics information page, under the section on Credits.
